Chemicals
are purchased in small amounts and stored in the individual laboratories. Waste stream
quantities fluctuate with the volume of research activities in progress. Recent laboratory
shutdowns, remodels and moves have resulted in numerous clean -outs generating an increase
in•this waste stream: A focus on discarding expired chemicals and unnecessary chemical
inventory has also lent to this increase. This waste stream may vary from year to year
depending the volume and type of research activities being performed.
SOURCE REDUCTION/POLLUTION PREVENTION EVALUATION
D crintion of Measure:
LBL purchases chemicals in small volumes and has implemented source reduction
measures which minimizes waste generation. Researchers are encouraged to limit
chemical purchases to what is necessary. No other source reduction measures are
planned at this time.
September 1, 2015 SB14 Plan ZQ_29
1
