The predominant generator <br />is the nano -technology research facility. The waste streams are comprised of chemical <br />mixtures from research activities, including,, ehlorobenzene, methylene chloride, chloroform, <br />polyfluorene, toluene, methanol, acetonitrile and many others. Increase in nano -technology <br />research in the laboratory lent to an increase in this waste stream. This waste stream may <br />vary from year to year depending the volume and type of research activities being performed. <br />SOURCE REDUCTION/POLLUTION PREVENTION EVALUATION <br />Description of Measure: <br />LBNL researchers are encouraged to purchase chemicals in small volumes and to <br />substitute non -hazardous or chemicals with reduced hazardous properties, as much as <br />possible.
