For SNL/CA <br />6.4 Building 914- Machine Shop coolant/oil/water <br />The Machine shop uses lathes, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, grinders, and <br />other equipment to produce classified and prototype parts in support of all on-going <br />projects at SNL/CA. Certain machining tools require metal working fluid (coolant). <br />A change in management occurred in Building 914 machine shop, which resulted in a <br />change in business operations. Management is reducing the operation creating the <br />water/coolant/oil waste and therefore has not purchased an oil/water separator. <br />For LLNL <br />6.5 Routine Oily Waste <br />This waste results from car washes and cleaning of soiled vehicles and equipment. Itis <br />generated when oily sludge is removed from the oil/water separator at the Fleet <br />Maintenance building. <br />Although the fleet maintenance facility at B611 was closed in 2012, the car wash remains <br />in service. The oil water separator is only cleaned out periodically and was not cleaned <br />- out during 2014. <br />September 1, 2015 SB 14 Report III -11 <br />
