SITE WIDE OIL -CONTAMINATED DEBRIS WASTE GENERATION PROCESS
Oil -contaminated debris is generated by different operations around the site. In 2010, the
largest generators ofoil-contaminated debris were the Maintenance -Engineering
Department, Engine Combustion Laboratory and the Machine shop.
These operations generated rags, wipes, and other solids contaminated with oil.
Currently this oil -contaminated debris are drummed and disposed of as a non-RCRA
hazardous waste.
SOURCE REDUCTION/POLLUTION PREVENTION EVALUATION
Description of Measure:
None identified. Previously the Maintenance -Engineering Department conducted an
industrial laundry service pilot program. The service was determined to be too costly
due to the shop towels not being returned to be laundered.
September 1, 2011 SB 14 Plan
35
