HAZCOM OBJECTIVES: <br /> a. To make members aware of the guidelines in the Hazard Communications Rules <br /> (OSHA section 1910-1200 OAR 437 Div. 2Z). <br /> b. To ensure ability to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), <br /> the National Fire Protection Association Hazard Identification System, and all <br /> general labeling of materials. <br /> C. To motivate members to protect themselves and others by knowing the proper <br /> procedures for the handling of hazardous materials. <br /> d. To develop a good attitude toward safety in the workplace, especially in the <br /> handling of hazardous materials. <br /> 2. HAZCOM TRAINING WILL: <br /> a. Identify what hazardous materials are on site, where they can be found, and in <br /> what applications they may be used. <br /> b. Instruct on how to read an MSDS, so the member can determine information <br /> such as the nature of(odor/color) hazardous materials, symptoms of exposure to <br /> them, proper first aid and fire-fighting techniques, and types of personal <br /> protection or monitoring devices which should be used when dealing with the <br /> material. <br /> C. Instruct on how to read a NFPA label to determine the health risk, reactivity, and <br /> flammability of any hazardous material. <br /> d. Review the written hazardous communication guideline produced by and for <br /> Bobcat West, Boise, ID Location <br /> The training will be conducted by the new member's supervisor, and once a year by the safety <br /> committee.
