(AGE) for the above referenced site and has the
following comments.
On September 14, 1994 three gasoline underground storage tanks (UST) and one waste oil UST
were removed under permit and inspection from this site. Soil samples collected from beneath
the UST's were analyzed and results evidenced contamination of up to 19,000 parts per million
(ppm)total petroleum hydrocarbons as gas (TPHg), 12-ppm benzene, 650-ppm toluene, 410-ppm
P ethylbenzene and 3,000-ppm xylene.
The work plan proposes to begin the investigation of the vertical and lateral extent of the noted
petroleum hydrocarbon contamination with a series of at least four Geoprobe direct push soil
borings. Soil samples will be collected every five feet in each boring, selected samples will be
submitted for analysis. At least three of the borings will be advanced to a depth four-feet below
groundwater for the collection of grab groundwater samples. All submitted samples, both soil and
water, will be analyzed for TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified, BTEX components by EPA
Method 8020, and for five fuel oxygenates by EPA Method 8260.
The work plan as outlined above is approved. Please proceed with submittal of a Well Permit
Application and required $89.00 fee. Please prepare a well survey that documents the location
of all industrial, domestic, municipal, agricultural and other wells located within 2,000-feet of the
subject site. Boring logs of these wells, if available, should be included. Submit the well survey
with the report of findings and recommendations that will be prepared following the completion of
the work.
