ALPINE AVENUE - STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA PERMIT NO. 95-5028 Dear Mr. Thorpe: This report presents the results of compaction tests taken at the subject project. At your request, Messrs. Steve Casado and Harold Cochran of our firm performed tests at the site on November 15 and 16, 1995, on a full-time basis. Twenty tests were taken by the nuclear probe test method at random locations on tank excavation backfill. The depth of backfill was approximately 10 feet. Samples of the materials tested were brought to our laboratory for determination of the maximum density-optimum moisture content. The test results, shown on Table I, conform to the compaction requirements of the project specifications. In our opinion, the tests are representative of the entire fill at this location and comply with Chapter 70, Section 7014(c) of the Uyuform Building Code. Since Kleinfelder, Inc. did not perform a geotechnical study for this site, we cannot accept any responsibility for the adequacy of any geotechnical recommendations. The scope of our work was strictly limited to density testing in the areas noted. We have employed accepted engineering and testing procedures. However, we do not undertake the guarantee of construction, nor do we relieve the contractor of his primary responsibility to produce a completed project conforming to the project plans and specifications.
