Personnel in the auto shop have been instructed to clean up such leaks
immediately.
• The 55-gallon drum and excess oil in bin 45 have been pumped out by the recycler. Employees
in the auto shop have been instructed not to allow the drum to be overfilled.
• Oil stains—employees in the auto shop will be more vigilant about cleaning up spills in the
future.
Item # 19:
• The used oil filters in Bins #1 and#2 have been picked up by the recycler and new labels have
been affixed with the new accumulation start dates.
• The drum of used absorbent has been picked up by the recycler and new labels have been
affixed with the new accumulation start dates.
• Personnel in charge of this area have been instructed to make sure labels are changed and the
correct date is marked as soon as accumulation of hazardous waste begins.
• The 1-gallon containers on the ground outside the bins were later identified as paint thinner.
There was not a proper drum available at the time the painters left the thinner. Employees who
handle this waste have been instructed to properly label all containers and place them in
secondary containment. Mop Buckets—have been labeled"Oily Water—Empty Daily" and
"Water and Antifreeze—Empty Daily" and will be emptied in to the proper containers for
recycle.
• Containers used to drain oil—have been emptied, labeled, and will be emptied as soon as the
job is complete. Employees have also been instructed to make sure the container they are using
to drain fluids is big enough to prevent overfilling.
Bringing Earth's Resources to Life
