14.1.3 The uncontrolled release of any toxic gas. <br /> 14.2 In case of a release of hazardous materials, the person observing the condition <br /> must: <br /> 14.2.1 Evacuate the immediate area.. <br /> 14.2.2 Contact the Production Supervisor using the plant communication system. <br /> The following information must be provided: <br /> A. Location of the release. <br /> B. Number of exposed or injured employees (if any). <br /> C. Name and amount of chemical(s) released (if Known or estimate). <br /> D. Actions taken regarding evacuation or first aid. <br /> E. Caller's name and extension calling from. <br /> 14.3 Upon receiving notification of the release the Production Supervisor shall: <br /> 14.3.1 Dispatch area Emergency 'Response Team members to respond to the <br /> emergency. <br /> 14.4 General response procedures for ERT members are as follows : <br /> 14.4.1 Ensure that the immediate area of the release has been evacuated. <br /> 14.4.2 Confirm the emergency and its scope with the Production Shift Supervisor. If <br /> needed, request additional assistance or equipment. <br /> 14.4.3 Prevent re-entry into the affected area by cordoning off the evacuated area. <br /> 14.4.4 Provide first aid to injured or contaminated employees, -if any. <br /> 14.4.5 Assess the release and devise a plan of action. <br /> 14.4.6 Request notification of outside agencies as needed. Refer to the section <br /> called "Outside Agency Notification" in this Contingency 'Plan. The Fire <br /> Department must be immediately notified if an employee is injured or a <br /> hazardous condition exists. <br /> 14.4.7 Set-up a command post, communications, and chain of command. <br /> 14.4.8 Set-up a staging area for the ERT and emergency equipment. <br /> 14.4.9 Identify the hazardous material released and review its Material Safety Data <br /> Sheet (MSDS). <br /> FAU Contingency Plan Page 15 06/23/04 <br />
