15.2.5 Where possible, secure all hazardous materials.
15.3 When flooding exists or threatens to exist due to pipe breakage:
15.3.1 Evacuate the flooded area of all personnel.
15.3.2 Contact the Production Shift Supervisor and report the incident,
153.3 Immediately notify the ERT and the operators of the plant involved.
15.3.4 Plant Operators, with the assistance of ERT members must shut down flow
into the pipeline. This can be accomplished by either closing valves or
shutting down equipment upstream of the leak.
15.3.5 If the pipeline contains hazardous materials (i.e., acid drain), use the section
called "Hazardous Material Release Procedure" found in the Contingency
Plan.
15.3.6 The source of the leak must be repaired before normal operations can
resume in the area.
16.4 FIRST AID PROCEDURES
J
This section describes the necessary procedures for injuries or illness that may occur
during the course of operations.
16.1 A serious injury can be life threatening and will require immediate medical
attention. These can include head injuries, spine injuries, broken bones, heart
attack, stroke, loss of consciousness, excessive bleeding, chemical exposure, etc.
16.2 A non-serious injury is not immediately life threatening, but may still required the
attention of the occupational health coordinator or a medical doctor. These can
include severe headaches, nausea, large wounds, minor-burns, etc..
16.3 In the event of an injury or illness, the following procedure must be followed:
16.3.1 If the injury is serious, immediately contact 911 and notify them of the
emergency.
16.3.2 Activate Emergency Response Team.
16.3.3 Notify the Nurse at 6215 when he/she is on site and contact the Production
Supervisor by plant communication system. If Nurse and Supervisor are not
available contact an ERT member at either the Sulfuric acid plant or
Ammonia Storage.
ERI'Contingency flan Page 17 06/23/99
