• r
ARCADISSOP: HydropunO Groundwater Sampling Procedures 6 '
Rev.#:01 Rev Date:March 24,2004
14. Abandon the borehole in accordance with the Soil Boring Installation, Soil
Sampling, and Borehole Abandonment SOP.
VII. Waste Management
The waste decontamination fluids should be containerized and characterized to
determine whether they should be treated or disposed of as hazardous waste in
accordance with California Environmental Protection Agency's(CaIEPA)Guidance '
Manual for Ground Water Investigations(CaIEPA, 1995). Rinse water, PPE,and other
residuals generated during the equipment cleaning procedures will be placed in
appropriate containers. Containerized waste will be disposed of consistent with '
appropriate procedures as outlined in Handling and Storage of Investigation-Derived
Waste SOP.
VIII. Data Recording and Management '
Field sampling activities will be documented. Field sampling logs and chain-of-custody ,
records will be transmitted to the project manager.
IX. Quality Assurance
Field blanks will be collected. Field rinsate blanks will be used to confirm that '
equipment decontamination procedures are sufficient and executed property.Trip
blanks for volatile organic compounds, which aid in the detection of contaminates from '
other media, sources,or the container itself, will be kept with the coolers and the
sample containers throughout the sampling event.
Samples to be analyzed for volatile or semi-volatile organic compounds will not be '
filtered because the potential loss of compounds through volatilization is probable.
Recent research focusing on the comparison of differing types of groundwater '
sampling equipment demonstrates that significant loss of volatile organic compounds
may occur when bailers are used to sample groundwater(CaIEPA, 1995).
X.
