The report proposes to sample the wells at the site for two additional quarters and
reassess future work on the results.
07-30-93 PHS/EHD sends letter to RP stating that the over-excavation removed a large portion of
the contaminated soil but that the confirmation soil sampling showed low levels of soil
contamination remaining, that the wells continue to show groundwater contamination with
MW#2 showing high levels of benzene, that the site is upgradient of an active municipal
well, and that feasibility studies must be completed so that a CAP can be submitted by
April 25, 1994.
09-09-93 PHS/EHD receives second quarter 1993 quarterly report dated September 2, 1993
reporting the monitoring and sampling of the six site weils.4 The depth to water was
approx. 71.8' to 74.58' bgs with the flow direction to the south east. MW#2 and MW#3
showed contamination, although the levels were lower than previous levels. MW#1,
MW#4, MW#6, and MW#6 were nondetect at a detection limit of 1.0 ppb for BTEX.
01-14-94 PHS/EHD receives third quarter 1993 quarterly report dated January 12, 1994 reporting
the monitoring and sampling of the six site monitoring wells on August 10 and 11, 1993.
The depth to water was approx. 73.83' to 76.52' bgs with the flow direction to the south
east. Only MW#2 showed contamination as TPH as gasoline with no BTEX detected at
a detection limit of 1.0 ppb. Lead was analyzed for and detected in all six wells at levels
ranging from 0.0053 mg/L to 0.14 mg/L.
02-09-94 PHS/EHD meets with new representatives of the RP and explains the site history and the
issues that still need to be addressed at the site before it can be considered for closure.
02-18-94 PHS/EHD sends RP letter summarizing the issues discussed at the February 9, 1994
meeting, and states that a WP to investigate those areas of concern may be submitted
by April 24, 1994 in lieu of a CAP.
03-11-94 PHS/EHD receives letter from representative of RP stating that they will be able to submit
a WP by the due date and that they wish to cooperate fully.
00-00-94 PHS/EHD receives fourth quarter 1993 quarterly report dated March 2, 1994 reporting the
monitoring and sampling of the six site wells on December 16 and 17, 1993. The depth
to water was approx. 71.41' to 74.16' bgs with a variable but generally easterly flow
direction. None of the six wells showed contamination this quarter with detection limits
of 50 ppb for TPH as gasoline and 1.00 ppb for BTEX.
00-00-94 PHS/EHD receives first quarter 1994 quarterly report dated May 18, 1994 reporting the
monitoring and sampling of the six site wells on March 23, 1994. The depth to water was
approx. 65.73' to 68.45' bgs with the flow direction generally to the east. All six wells
showed no contamination at detection limits of 25 ppb for TPH as gasoline and 0.5 ppb
for BTEX.
04-21-94 PHS/EHD receives "Workplan - Additional Environmental Investigation" dated April 18,
1994, submitted by a new consulting firm. The workplan proposes two SBs near the
former tank pit to assess the vertical extent of soil contamination, four 98s in the vicinity
of the septic system, the monitoring and sampling of the six site wells, to determine the
mass volume of petroleum impacted groundwater,to conduct a study on the effects of
"Simple Green" on petroleum hydrocarbons in saturated and unsaturated soils, and to
4 Por historical
groundwater analytical results, please refer Co end of chronology.
