• • JA Simplot Company
Simplot eno, 28955
Fresno,California
93729-8955
GROWER SOLUTIONS (559)439-3900 Business
(559)439-5728 Fax
Waste Discharge/Spill Response Notice to Abate — Record ID# PR0538425: As
discussed during the onsite inspection of 26 February 2016, the white staining on the
soil was caused by a water pipe break inside the fertilizer tank farm containment
structure. The water overflowed the structure, carrying a small amount of potash
fertilizer that was left on the loadout pad during removal of the filter bag housing and
auger. The discharge was stopped prior to the inspection date when an employee shut
off the water valve and capped the broken pipe. The white stained soil was removed
and properly disposed of, per Items 202 and 301 above. To prevent future
contamination, the former fertilizer tank farm structures were cleaned, per Item 102
above, and the stationary fertilizer tank (#32) inside the containment was cleaned, per
Item 3010 above. The property that the former tank farm sits on is no longer being
leased by Simplot as of 15 January 2016. The owner is Steve Giannecchini.
We feel we have properly addressed all items in your inspection reports, and in the
Notice to Abate, for the former Simplot Grower Solutions facility at 7707 Jack Tone
Road. Please review the information we have provided, and advise us if the violations
noted in your reports have been adequately addressed. If you need additional
information, or if you have questions, please call me at 559-631-2259 (office), 208-867-
2627 (cell), or email me at lohn.pallen(a)simplot.com.
Sincerely, p r;,allil W 6.
MAY 272016
J-R.
