All samples will be, labeled, put in a Ziploc bag, and packed in a cooler with ice for
shipment to the laboratories.
5.5.5. Sample Analysis
Soil vapor samples will be analyzed for VOCs and 1,4-dioxane by EPA Method 8260B
(DTSC 2012). Table 2 lists the reporting limits for each of the soil vapor analytes.
Soil samples for contaminant analysis will be analyzed by EPA 5035A/826013 for VOCs,
EPA 8270C for SVOCs,EPA 8280A or 1613B for dioxin and furans (2,3,7,8-TCDD),
EPA 6010/7471 for Title 22 metals,EPA 7199 for hexavalent chromium, and EPA
90450 for pH. Table 3 lists the reporting limits and method detection limits for the soil
analytes.
Sal samples for physical characteristics will be analyzed for total and fraction organic
carMou, soil bulk density, grain density, porosity, soil moisture content, effective
permeability, and soil classification(grain size and Atterberg limits) by a licensed
goowchnical laboratory. Methods recommended in Appendix H of DTSC's Guidance for
the Evaluation and Mitigation of Subsurface Vapor Intrusion to Indoor Air(October
2011) will be followed. They are:
Sail balk Density ASTM D2937
Gran tensity ASTM D854
Tod Ibrosity Calculate from the soil bulk density and the grain density
Sod Moisture Content ASTM D2216
FratOrganic Carbon Walkley-Black method(Nelson and Sommers, 1992)
Tod Organic Carbon Walkley-Black method(Nelson and Sommers, 1992)
Grain Size ASTM D422
ERcruve Permeability API RP40
5.5.6. Sample Documentation and Packaging
5.5.6.1. Field Notes
Field notes will be maintained by Dudek personnel for all site visits. Logbooks will
be maintained to record all field activities. Copies of site maps will be used to plot
sample locations and describe any previously unknown structures or landmarks.
Photographs will also be taken to document various site characteristics and field
activities.
The following information will be recorded in the field logbook or on field forms
during the collection of each sample:
• Sample name
Soil Gas and Soil Sampling Work Plan—Rev.4 7693-05
Former Keamey-KPF Facility Dudek
Stockton,CA 17 September 2013
