Per well destruction permit number SR0046167, wells KS-7 and KI-7 were destroyed
on 06-Apr-06 and 07-Apr-06 by Water Development Corporation(WDC), from Zamora, CA.
Dudek oversaw all MW destruction activities. The destruction of the two MWs is described
below.
Destruction of Groundwater Monitoring Well KS-7
On 06-Apr-06 WDC removed the Tri-Loc purging system and confirmed all obstructions were
removed from MW KS-7. The bottom of the MW was tagged at 90-feet feet below land surface
(bls) (Appendix A). A 1-inch diameter tremie pipe was lowered to the bottom of MW and
approximately 10 cu-ft(100-gallons) of Portland cement was pumped down the MW (Table 1).
Dudek calculated approximately 97 gallons of neat cement would be required to backfill the MW
casing and gravel pack, assuming the porosity of the gravel pack to equal 35%. Groundwater
within the MW casing was pushed to land surface as the neat cement displaced the groundwater
in the MW casing. The displaced groundwater was collected in a 55-gallon drum. After the
MW casing and filter pack was filled with neat cement, WDC inserted a pneumatic packer into
the MW casing. The pneumatic packer was inflated and approximately 68 pounds per square
W W W.DUDEK.COM
