Procedures for handling and transfer of materials, loading and unloading operations.
All of the bulk storage tanks at Viktron California are in secondary containment areas, that are
within the berms. The delivery area for bulk chemicals is contained and has a concrete sump. If
there is a spill or leak from a bulk storage tank it will be contained until a transfer can be made.
If there is a spill or leak during a transfer the transfer will be stopped immediately and outside
emergency response will be called.
If a leak occurs during delivery of a transportable container containing a hazardous material or
while transporting these materials to or from the chemical storage area the spilled material will
be contained and picked up with an absorbent and the area neutralized. If the size or
composition of the spill exceeds the ability of Viktron California employees to safely deal with it
outside assistance will be immediately called for and any necessary evacuations will take place
Control of plant site run-off.
As mentioned above all of our chemical storage is in covered areas, contained by concrete floors
and berms that have been coated with epoxy.
In order to control the opportunity for contaminants to be present on the facility grounds, that
may enter the storm drain, the following practices will be followed. We will inspect the facility
24 hours prior to any predicted storm event and remove any materials that may result in
contamination and confirm that any used equipment is covered. Additionally will arrange to
have the swept immediately prior to the beginning of the storm season.
Worker training.
Sub1ect Frequency -
Safety Procedures in Annual
Event of Hazardous
Release or Threatened
Release
Trained
Emergency Coordinators
Waste Treatment
Chemical Maintenance
Evacuation Procedures Upon Employment,
All Employees
Hazardous Materials Upon involvement
Emergency Coordinators
Management Plan With This Subject
Waste Treatment
Implementation
Chemical Maintenance
Security
Proper Handling of Upon Employment, Waste Treatment
Hazardous Materials and on the job Chemical Maintenance
Used by Business training
Hazard Communication Upon Employment All Employees
and/or Material Safety
Data Sheets (MSDS)
Building of containment structures or equipment.
Viktron California has containment structures in place at this time.
