KLEINFELDER & ASSOCIATES
3 SCOPE OF WORK
o Collect soil samples
o Screen samples in the field with a photo—ionization detector (PID) for
petroleum hydrocarbons
o Transport samples to a State/EPA approved laboratory for rapid
turn—around chemical analysis
o Submit a report containing analytical results and sample locations
3.1 SOIL SAMPLING PROCEDURES
Soil samples will be collected for chemical analysis. Samples will be
collected at depths of one—half to one foot and three—and—one—half to four
feet below the surface. A backhoe will be employed to excavate to the
sampling depths.
Ten soil samples will be collected by driving a cleaned brass tube into
the undisturbed soil. The tube will then be removed and sealed with
aluminum foil and tight fitting plastic caps. The sealed tube will be
immediately stored in an iced cooler. At the end of sampling operations,
27:712-2 3
