• • <br /> James Saras is Tri Valley Ag Cooperative Chairman of the <br /> Board. <br /> The operators of TVG-T are: Dan Wallace, Plant Manager; <br /> Clayton Henke, Production Manager; Stan Lewis, Quality <br /> Control Manager; John Welch, Production Safety Training <br /> and Environment Manager. <br /> IV. BACKGROUND: <br /> On March 2 , 1988, PHS-EHD signed a Memorandum of <br /> Understanding with the Department of Health Services <br /> authorizing PHS-EHD to perform hazardous waste generator <br /> inspections in San Joaquin County. <br /> TVG-T was identified as a large hazardous waste generator <br /> (generating > 5 tons of hazardous waste) in 1987 . Routine <br /> hazardous waste generator inspections were performed on <br /> January 17 , 1990 and March 20, 1992 . Copies of 1991 <br /> hazardous waste manifests received April 6, 1992 <br /> established TVG-T generated 2 . 6 tons of hazardous waste in <br /> 1991, and would therefore not be considered a large <br /> hazardous waste generator. <br /> V. GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF FACILITY: <br /> TVG-T is located at 26200 Nowell Rd. , Thornton, CA. The <br /> plant sits on a 340 acre site near the town of Thornton. <br /> The facility receives raw agricultural product (tomatoes) <br /> and produces tomato products including whole peel tomatoes <br /> and tomato paste. <br /> VI. HAZARDOUS WASTE ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: <br /> In 1991, TVG-T manifested 1540 lbs. (0.77 tons) of friable <br /> asbestos to Anderson Solid Waste Inc. , 18703 Cambridge <br /> Rd. , Anderson, CA, 96007 . <br /> In 1991, TVG-T generated 3 , 300 lbs. (1. 65 tons) of waste <br /> petroleum naptha (solvent) from plant equipment repair and <br /> cleaning. The solvent was picked up by Safety-Kleen for <br /> recycling. <br /> In 1991, TVG-T generated 413 lbs. (0. 21 tons) of corrosive <br /> laboratory waste containing propanol and potassium <br /> hydroxide. The waste was transported by Romic Chemical <br /> Corporation of Palo Alto to Romic Chemical Southwest, 6760 <br /> West Allison Rd. , Chandler, AZ, 85226. <br /> Waste oil is generated from maintenance of manufacturing <br /> equipment; fork lifts and trucks. Waste oil is picked up <br /> 2 <br />
