Failed to manage incompatible wastes in containers properly 66265.17 CCR. <br />At time of inspection: <br />facility was storing mixed waste aerosol cans, in Drum G, without any knowledge of compatibility. <br />Note: The product examples listed on the "HazWaste Segregation Chart" are not clear, nor does it capture all items that are <br />a hazardous waste in a retail distribution center. Thus, leaving the determination of which drum the hazardous waste should <br />be placed in, to the employee, which could led to compatibility issues. <br />During the inspection: <br />"Oxiclean" was found in the "B, Waste Corrosive liquid basic" drum. According to the chart, "Oxi" detergents and Hydrogen <br />Peroxides shall be placed the "D Waste Oxidizing liquid" drum. <br />2 bottles of "X-14 Mildew Stain remover", active ingredient sodium hypochlorite were found in the "C, Waste Corrosive liquid <br />acidic" drum. According to the label on the back of the bottles, it reads "Do not mix with any other household cleaning <br />products, including acids or ammonia, toilet bowel cleaners, or rust removers as toxic fumes may result". <br />Windshield washer fluid with Ammonia was found in the "A, waste flammable liquid" drum and according to the chart it <br />should be in the "13, Waste Corrosive liquid basic" drum. Also found in this container were six 1 gallon containers of stain. <br />According to the chart it should be in the "H Waste latex paint & stain" drum. This drum had free standing liquid in the <br />bottom, with different color liquids which appeared to be mixing. <br />Drum "E, Waste toxic liquids, flammable" had mixtures of several types of waste. According to an employee on site it <br />appeared the wastes in this drum were vendor returns and defects. Several different types of waste were seen stored in <br />single plastic bags, stuffed into this drum. Damaged, defective aerosol cans were also stored in this container. <br />In every yellow overpack drum, except for Drum C, there was free standing liquid, a mixture of the leaking wastes from the <br />plastic bags, at the bottom. <br />Immediately segregate incompatible wastes. All incompatible wastes must be managed and stored <br />separately. <br />27. Failed to keep containers of hazardous waste closed unless actively adding/removing hazardous waste <br />66265.173(a) CCR. <br />At time of inspection: <br />1-65 gallon overpack drum of waste oil, with waste at the bottom, was seen open. <br />were seen open.
