Since the location and
type of spill can vary so greatly, this plan is presented to
furnish general guidelines to be taken immediately after a spill
occurs.
CONTROL THE SPILL
If a hazardous material spill's source is continuing to leak, then
every effort should be made to stop the flow and lessen the overall
release.
CONTAINMENT
• AT FXI TERMINAL:
After the spill occurs, every effort must be made to keep the
product within a limited area near the source. Prevent the spilled
materials from spreading with dikes or booms.
Following are a few items that will be needed to contain spills and
a list of tools to be readily available in the event of an
emergency:
* Case Of universal Booms
* Sponge Dry Absorbent
* Sponge Mats
* Long Handle Shovel
* Long Handle Squeegee
* DOT Transportable Barrel
Most spills are small in nature. For a small spill, cover the
spill area with absorbent pads and absorbent if necessary. This
will also help neutralize the vapors.
