Anderson Street, Stockton
On December 10, 2001,the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department(EHD) sent a letter to
the City of Stockton informing them that you have submitted applications for installation of wells at the
two addresses referenced above, which are located within the city limits. The EHD requested that the city
provide any comments or conditions applicable to the proposed well construction. Enclosed is a copy of
the City of Stockton's response to the EHD letter.
In order for the EHD to issue permits for construction of these wells, one of the following must be
completed:
• An assessment must be performed to determine the vertical and lateral extent of the identified
chromium VI groundwater contamination. The results of this study must demonstrate that
construction of the proposed wells, with annular seal depths of less than 200 feet, will not affect
the contaminant plume.
• As required by the City of Stockton, a formal environmental review of the hydrological impact of
the proposed wells on the potable aquifers must be performed. The environmental review must
be prepared by an appropriately licensed environmental consultant acceptable to the City of
Stockton.
The other option is to connect to the available public water service for both your industrial and domestic
water supplies and not install the proposed wells.
If you have any questions, contact Margaret Lagorio at(209)468-3449.
Donna Heran,REHS,Director
Environmental Health Department
Margaret Lagorio, Supervising REHS
Unit IV
Enc.
c: City of Stockton
anderson819
