JUL 01 2016 <br /> 2)Several pouring funnels,attached to several 55-gallon containers, located in the hazardous waste <br /> storage area,were not latched at the time of inspection.This was corrected at the time of inspection. <br /> All hazardous waste containers shall be closed at all times except when adding or removing waste. <br /> Immediately close these containers and ensure all hazardous waste containers are closed when not adding <br /> or removing waste. Submit proof of correction to the EHD. <br /> Actions Taken: 1)A Standard Operating Procedure(SOP) and Preventative Maintenance Guide (PMG) <br /> was generated to outline this policy and describe the proper handling and disposal of small metal fines <br /> and effected employees trained.A copy of this SOP and guide is found in Appendix A. 2)A Preventative <br /> Maintenance Guide(PMG)was generated to outline the requirement of keeping funnels latched when not <br /> in use and effected employees trained.A copy of this PMG can be found in Appendix A. <br /> Notice to Comply (Item#406): CCR 66261.7(1) Contaminated container not marked with date emptied <br /> or managed within one year of being emptied.Twelve 55-gallon containers which previously held <br /> hazardous materials(like cleaning compounds and acids)were labeled "empty" but lacked the date they <br /> were emptied. Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material shall be <br /> marked with the date they were emptied and managed within one year of being emptied. <br /> Immediately mark and manage all empty containers per this section. Submit proof of correction to the <br /> EHD. <br /> Actions Taken: A Preventative Maintenance Guide(PMG)was generated to outline this policy and <br /> describe the proper labelling requirements and effected employees trained. A copy of this PMG can be <br /> found in Appendix A. Safety Kleen has picked up unneeded empty drums,and a copy of the manifest is <br /> found in Appendix B. <br /> Notice to Comply (Item#601): CCR 66262.34(d)Stored hazardous waste onsite greater than 180 days. <br /> 1) Metal fines were stored in an open container labeled as "waste metal shavings/fines" located inside the <br /> repair shop and lacked an accumulation start date. Based on the return to compliance certification <br /> received on 11-10-2011 metal fines "metal shavings, sweep metal residue" will be handled as hazardous <br /> waste. Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per month and do not exceed 6000 kg <br /> of waste stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 days. Since it can't be determined <br /> how long these metal fines were onsite,immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose <br /> of this waste under manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD. <br /> 2) One 55-gallon container of ammonia filters (located in the hazardous waste storage area),lacked an <br /> accumulation start date on its label. Facilities who generate less than 1000 kg of hazardous waste per <br /> month and do not exceed 6000 kg of waste stored on site at any time may store waste on site up to 180 <br /> days.
