Box 2009 <br /> Stockton CA 95201 <br /> SUBJECT: Work Plan <br /> Fire Cleanup <br /> Manteca, California <br /> Dear Sir: <br /> The purpose of this letter is to present the work plan for site <br /> cleanup associated with a recent fire at the Spreckels Plant in <br /> Manteca. <br /> A fire occurred on the evening of July 7, 1988 . The fire was <br /> limited to a single building on the Spreckels property. The <br /> building was used to store a variety of materials , some of which <br /> are considered potentially hazardous . <br /> In the initial stages of the fire, water was used to fight the <br /> fire . However, in order to avoid spread of potentially hazardous <br /> materials , the use of water was discontinued and the fire was <br /> allowed to burn itself out. <br /> The overall size of the building was 30 by 125 feet. The <br /> building was constructed of metal siding on a wood frame. The <br /> flooring was both concrete and wood. <br /> The building contained a variety of chemicals and products .
