A plastic bucket of universal waste batteries was observed in the shop with an accumulation start <br /> date of April 30, 2009. A generator of universal waste (batteries, mercury containing equipment, lamps/ <br /> bulbs, electronic devices, CRTs, CRT glass, aerosol cans) shall accumulate universal waste for no <br /> longer than one year from the date the waste was generated. Immediately dispose of this waste as <br /> universal waste and submit a copy of the disposal record to the EHD by May 26, 2012. <br /> Complete and submit a copy of the Return to Compliance Certification to the EHD by May 26, 2012 <br /> along with a statement documenting the corrective actions that have been or will be taken for each <br /> violation and any supporting paperwork. <br /> "*Facility generated 26.23 tons of hazardous waste in 2011 and is being placed in a higher permit <br /> category (25-50 tons/year). This may result in increased permit fees. <br /> Notes: (corrected on site) <br /> - A plastic bucket of universal waste batteries was observed open in the shop. The words "universal <br /> waste" were faded from the container and were nearly illegible. A generator shall contain batteries in a <br /> container that is closed, structurally sound, compatible with the battery and its contents, and lacks <br /> evidence of leakage, spillage, or damage. A generator shall label or mark universal waste with the <br /> words 'Universal Waste' and the type of waste. The batteries were placed in a properly closed and <br /> labeled container at the time of inspection. <br /> - A 55 gallon poly drum which previous held used antifreeze was observed in the shop without empty <br /> labeling. Containers larger than five gallons that previously held a hazardous material shall be marked <br /> as empty with the date they were emptied and managed within one year of being emptied. The <br /> container was labeled at the time of inspection. <br /> Provided: <br /> - Small Business Household Hazardous Waste Facility brochure <br /> - Return to Compliance Certification form <br /> ALL EHD STAFF TIME ASSOCIATED WITH FAILING TO COMPLY BY THE ABOVE NOTED DATES WILL BE BILLED AT THE CURRENT HOURLY RATE. <br /> THIS FACILITY IS SUBJECT TO REINSPECTIOk AT ANY TI T EHD'S CURRENT HOURLY RATE. <br /> EHD Inspector.
