Metal fines generated from welding shop are being disposed on in the trash without first <br />determining particle size or hazardous properties. Any person who generates a waste shall determine if <br />the waste is a hazardous waste. Immediately stop disposing of metal fines in the trash, make a <br />hazardous waste determination for the metal fines, and manage it according to Title 22 hazardous waste <br />regulations. Particles 100 microns or smaller must be handled as hazardous waste if the metal is <br />determined to be a hazardous waste. Submit a statement and supporting documentation explaining how <br />this waste was managed by 6-14-12. <br />605. The drum of used antifreeze had a blank hazardous waste label. Three five gallon containers of <br />used oil were only labeled as used oil. Two one gallon containers of used oil were not labeled. One three <br />gallon container of used antifreeze was only labeled as used antifreeze. All hazardous waste containers <br />shall be marked with the following information: <br />1. the words "Hazardous Waste" <br />2. name and address of generator <br />3. hazardous properties <br />4. physical state <br />5. composition (contents) <br />6. accumulation start date <br />Immediately label these containers and ensure that all containers are marked with all the required <br />information. Since it cannot be determined how long the containers of used oil and used antifreeze have <br />been on site, immediately contact a licensed hazardous waste hauler to dispose of this waste under <br />manifest and submit a copy of the manifest to the EHD by 6-14-12. <br />804. A universal waste(UW) lamps were not stored in a closed container. A UW handler shall manage <br />lamps in a way that prevents releases of any UW or component of a UW to the environment. A UW <br />handler shall contain any lamp in a container or package that is structurally sound, adequate to prevent <br />breakage, and compatible with the contents of the lamp. Such a container or package shall remain <br />closed and shall lack evidence of leakage or damage that could cause leakage under reasonably <br />foreseeable conditions. Correct immediately by storing UW lamps into a proper container and close it. <br />806. A Universal Waste(UW) electronic internet router was left on top of a full trash can outside. A facility <br />must store a UW electronic in a manner that prevents breakage and release to the environment. Correct <br />immediately by storing all UW electronics in a manner that prevents breakage and release to the <br />environment.
