Large Quantity Generator(LQG) * +
Weekly Inspection of Waste Storage Areas Checklist
REMEMBER: You maintain your LQG status as long as you generate more than 2,200 pounds k
of a hazardous waste in a calendar month
Main Waste Storage Area Y or N If"N"Provide Comments
1 Storage of full containers does not exceed 90 days: Date of
accumulation start is marked and visible on all full containers.
2 Containers in good condition. If a container leaks, bulges,or is
damaged, transfer the waste to a new container.
1 3 Waste compatible with container. For example, use HDPE plastic
containers for corrosive waste instead of metal drums/containers.
4 Keep containers closed and use self closing funnels when adding
waste.
5 Main waste storage area has a secondary containment system if
holding more than 2,200.. ounds of liquid hazardous waste.
6 Containers storing incompatible waste must be separated or
protected from each other. Don't place wastes that can react with
each other(acid&caustic)in the same container and keep
separated in story e.
7 The base of the main waste storage area secondary containment
system is impervious and free of cracks or a s.
i 8 Containers must be protected from precipitation and leaks. Don't
let rainwater or snow accumulate on top of containers and don't let
spill or leaks corrode or damage other containers in storage.
9 The Capacity of the main waste storage area secondary
containment system is equal to 10%of waste volume or volume of 4
largest container,whichever is greater.
10 Run-on of precipitation,or leaks or spills onto the main waste
storage area secondary containment system is prevented-or
excess capacity is provided.
11 Accumulated liquids in the main waste storage area secondary i
containment system are removed to prevent overflow of the
secondary containments stem.
12 Containers of ignitable or reactive waste must be stored at least 50
ft.from.property line.
13 Containers of ignitable waste must be individually grounded.
14 Hazardous waste containers must be clearly marked"Hazardous 4
Waste".
15 Waste must be packaged/labeled/marked per DOT during entire
on-site storage period. Review waste profiles or contact hazardous
waste disposal contractor or corporate environmental affairs for
guidance.
16 Containers clearly labeled/marked identifying contents and visible
accordinq to contents.
12 Adequate aisle space is available. Keep aisle space between
container rows to allow inspection for leaks and damage..
13 "No Smoking"signs conspicuously placed by ignitable or reactive
waste.
14 A telephone or other communication device must be present and in
good working order in the main waste storage area that is capable
of summoning emergency assistance.
15 Adequate waste supply and fire control equipment is ready,
maintained,and available. _... . j
16 Adequate and proper spill control, decontamination and safety
equipment is available.
17 Attached"Waste Storage Area Log" is available in main waste
storage areas listing all waste in storage and showing dates/times
and how much waste(in pounds)was added to each container.
This verifies/documents your generator status. Request
conversion factors to convert liquid vol.to lbs. measurement from '
Cornu ated Paickaging staff.
_
E10a - 3
