San Joaquin County Office of Emergency
Services
Hazardous Materials Management Plan
S
Program
SUBMITTING YOUR FACILITY MAP
Introduction
Businesses are required to complete a facility map, or series of maps, that show where
they store or handle hazardous materials in quantities that meet the reporting
requirements. The maps also must show other vital information. This critical
information is for the use of employees in an emergency as well as for responding
public agencies. Maps must be produced on a standard form that can be downloaded
from this website. The download links shown will download a PDF Acrobat file of the
standard map form for the primary map and for any secondary maps needed (see
below). Another link will download a sample completed map as a PDF Acrobat file for
your use.
Important Note: Maps cannot be completed or submitted through this website. They
must be completed in hard copy or electronic form and sent separately to our office. If
you want to complete or scan your map(s) as a digitized map file our office
prefers a ]PEG format for immediate use on our website.
If you send in a digitized map file you do not need to send in a hard copy. Just attach
the map file to an e-mail and send to "sjcoes@sjgov.org".
If you have any questions about submitting your facility map, please call our office for
assistance at (209) 953-6200
Reviewing and Printing Your Previously Submitted Facility Map(s)
If your business has previously submitted a facility map(s) then you can view the map
(s) on this website. Because of the variety of maps received a standard scanning
resolution has been chosen to obtain best all around clarity. However, this means that
your map(s) may display larger than the screen. If you want to print the map, most
maps print best by choosing "50%" scale and "Landscape" orientation from your "Page
Setup" command. Otherwise, you may have to experiment with scale settings to print
your map on one page.
Instructions For Completing the Facility Map
Primary Site Map You must provide a primary site map that shows your entire facility.
For small facilities, you may be able to show all the required information on this single
map. For larger facilities, you have the option of producing the primary site map with
some of the required information shown and supplementing this with a series of sub-
site maps showing the rest of the required information. Use the following guidelines in
completing the facility map(s).
1. Produce each map as if looking down onto the facility from overhead.
2. Each map should be as close to a uniform scale as possible. Each grid block
represents 1 inch square. You decide what real distance this 1" square will
