STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE Procedure#: DRAFT Title: Issue#: 1 Issue Date: 7/2/2004 Emergency Procedures_ I N L A N D Supersedes Date: None Spill Response A Rmpre-INrand Uwzpany general oversight for the administration of this procedure. 4.2 The Production Manager(PM)is responsible to the GM for: • Serving as the Emergency Response Plan Coordinator. • Ensuring adequate equipment, supplies and materials are on hand to conduct this procedure. • Ensuring adequate supervision is maintained over this procedure to protect affected employees and the assets of the company. • Direct oversight in the execution of this procedure. 4.3 The Human Resources Manager(HR)is responsible to the GM for: • Providing adequate procedures and training materials for the conduct of this procedure. • Maintaining training records relevant to this procedure. 4.4 The Manufacturing Coordinator and Facilitators are responsible to the PM for providing direct supervision over employees in the conduct of this procedure. The Shift Facilitator responsible for the area of the spill is the Person-In-Charge of the Spill Response Team. 4.5 The Maintenance Facilitator is responsible to the PM for • the maintenance of facilities and equipment needed or used in the conduct of this procedure. • Serving as the Environmental Coordinator 4.6 The Maintenance Crew on duty forms the Spill Response Team. 4.6 All employees are responsible to their immediate superior for demonstrating compliance with the elements of this procedure. 5.0 Safety 5.1 All safety rules, regulations and procedures will be observed while carrying out the activities associated with this procedure. 6.0 Procedure 6.1 Emergency Spills(see Definitions) require an emergency response. Plant employees should NOT respond to an emergency spill. 6.2 Discovery: • When you discover a spill, get away from the spill and warn others in the area away. • Report any spill immediately to the Facilitator in charge. • Do not begin a cleanup until the Facilitator in charge has assessed the spill and determined the level of response. 6.3 Determination of nature of spill: Emergency vs. Incidental • The Facilitator in charge looks for injuries and identifies the spilled material(s). • Using the definitions above, the Facilitator in charge determines if an Emergency or Incidental response is necessary.
