STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE <br /> Procedure#: DRAFT Title: <br /> Issue#: 1 wI" <br /> Issue Date: 7/2/2004 Emergency Procedures: ■ I N L A N D <br /> Supersedes Date: None Spill Response A7en,ple-lnlan CA)tnpauy <br /> 6.4 Emergency Spill Response <br /> • If a spill or release is considered an emergency,an orderly facility evacuation will be carried <br /> out. <br /> • The Facilitator in charge will contact the Environmental Coordinator(Maintenance <br /> Facilitator)so that the facility environmental spill Elan can be put into effect. <br /> • The Maintenance Facilitator will initiate outside emergency response assistance and report <br /> the emergency release to state and local authorities and Inland. <br /> 6.5 Incidental Spill Response <br /> If the spill or release is not an emergency,and you have been properly trained in spill cleanup, <br /> complete the following steps <br /> • Eliminate possible sources of ignition. <br /> • Set up traffic cones or barrier tape around the spill. <br /> • Use MSDSs to identify material(s) released, for spill and leak procedures, and health <br /> hazards. <br /> • Don appropriate personal protective equipment. <br /> • Surround the spill with spill socks. <br /> • Place absorbent onto spill. <br /> • Shovel absorbent into a drum. <br /> • Wipe down the spill area with absorbent pads or rags. <br /> • Seal and label the drum. <br /> • Place contaminated PPE in a labeled plastic bag,decontaminate clothing and wash exposed <br /> areas of the body thoroughly. <br /> • Contact the facility Environmental Coordinator(Maintenance Facilitator)regarding waste <br /> materials and place debris in an airtight container, and affix a fully completed waste label. <br /> 7.0 Documentation <br /> 7.1 Detailed Definition, Incidental Spill, attached. <br /> Issued By: Jim Dacayanan Authorized By: Nick Perino Page 3 of 4 <br /> x attachments) <br />
