TELIC ENGINEERING CORPORATION (TEC) STANDARD OPERATING <br /> PROCEDURE (SOP) # 88-001 <br /> RESPIRATORY PROTECTION PLAN <br /> SCOPE: <br /> It is the Intent or this SOP to provide all TEC employees with mandatory guidelines for: <br /> annual medical examinations (Including a pulmonary function test using a CAL-OSHA <br /> approved spirometer) to determine the suitability or employees to wear respiratory <br /> protection; selection criteria for respiratory protection; limitations of respirators; care, <br /> cleaning, sanitizing, and maintenance of respirators; and ongoing instruction. Equipment <br /> specifications shall be included in this SOP. <br /> AUTHORITY: <br /> This SOP has been developed to comply with the requirements set forth in Title 8 of the <br /> California Administrative Code, Section 5144 (f) (1) as amended. <br /> EQUIPMENT: <br /> TEC has chosen the following NIOSH approved respiratory protective equipment to be worn <br /> by their employees: <br /> O Positive Pressure Self-Contained Breathing <br /> Apparatus (SOBA) - DRAEGER 30-minute SCBA system. <br /> O Air supplied positive pressure hose-line breathing <br /> apparatus - Draeger positive pressure line breathers <br /> w/o emergency egress. NIOSH approved air hoses for <br /> this system. <br /> O A two (2) to six (6) station certified grade "D" <br /> or better "T" bottle breathing air manifold shall be <br /> used for the charging of SCBA bottles and as a supply <br /> for air supplied hose line breathers. This manifold <br /> shall be equipped with hi-low pressure regulator, low <br /> air (500psi) audible warning alarm, charge line, and <br /> "hansen" hose line fittings. <br /> O Air purifying respirators - Scott-O-Vista full face <br /> air purifying respirators, medium and large. <br /> Note: TEC will only use positive pressure SCBA in <br /> immediately dangerous to life or health (IDLH) atmospheres. <br /> Air supplied line breathers with an emergency egress <br /> system will not be used. Only Full Face (FF) air purifying <br /> respirators will be worn by TEC personnel. <br /> - 3 - <br />
