O Special Investigations <br /> Stool for occult blood should be required on all participants. <br /> O X-Rays <br /> Chest X-Rays should be performed on all participants as a <br /> baseline. A lumbarsacral spine should be performed If <br /> recommended by the examining physician. <br /> O Vision Screening <br /> A battery (litmus) instrument should be used to screen <br /> the participant's ability to see test targets at 13-16 <br /> Inches, and at 20 feet. Tests should include an assessment <br /> of muscle balance, eye coordination, depth perception, <br /> peripheral vision, color discrimination, and tonometry. <br /> All employees who are responsible for routinely working <br /> with hazardous materials/wastes, conducting field <br /> operations are to possess at least 20/40 vision (corrected) <br /> in at least one eye. <br /> O Audio Testing <br /> Audiometry Is required on all base-line physical examinations. <br /> Testing shall be conducted by OSHA certified operators In sound- <br /> proof booths. <br /> O Pulmonary Functions <br /> Tests shall be performed on American Thoracic Society <br /> approved equipment by NIOSH certified operators. Testing <br /> includes (FVC, FLEV-1), for detection of restrictive and <br /> obstructive lung disease and chronic disorders, such as <br /> emphysema, and bronchitis. <br /> O Cardiovascular Testing <br /> A resting 12 lead EKG shall be performed on all participants <br /> over 40 years of age. An exercise EKG should be performed <br /> If indicated by history of chest pain or presence of 2 or more <br /> risk factors in males 40-65. <br /> O Biological Monitoring <br /> Industrial chemicals that might cause systemic <br /> effects are often transported by the blood systems, <br /> metabolized by enzymes, and secreted by the body. In <br /> an effort to measure exposure(s) to industrial chemicals, <br /> biological monitoring is required. To evaluate blood forming, <br /> kidney, liver, and endocrine/metabolic functions, the <br /> following blood tests are considered to be the minimum <br /> for all participants: <br /> ' Serum and red blood cell cholinesterase <br /> • Blood lead <br /> 9 - <br />
