• Put on disposable chemical protective coveralls <br /> • Put on chemical protective boots and tape the coverall legs to the boots (using duct <br /> tape). <br /> • Put on chemical protective gloves. Tape the coveralls over the outer gloves at the <br /> wrist. <br /> • Don respirator if required, and perform pressure tests. <br /> • Put on hood or head covering, if applicable. <br /> • Put on remaining protective equipment, such as hardhat. <br /> One person shall remain in the contamination reduction zone to assist personnel entering <br /> the exclusion zone, and to check that each person entering this zone has the proper <br /> protective equipment. No persons shall be allowed to enter an exclusion zone improperly <br /> attired. <br /> Doffing Procedures <br /> Whenever a person leaves an exclusion zone,the following decontamination sequence <br /> will be followed: <br /> • Upon entering the Contamination Reduction Zone, stow miscellaneous equipment in <br /> designated bins. <br /> • Rinse contaminated mud and debris from boots or remove boot covers. <br /> • Clean reusable protective equipment. <br /> • Remove protective garments, equipment, and respirator. All disposable clothing <br /> should be placed in plastic bags and labeled as contaminated waste. <br /> • Wash hands, face and neck. <br /> • Proceed to the clean area and dress. <br /> • Clean respirator and prepare for next use. <br /> • Proceed to the sign-out point. <br /> All disposable equipment, garments, and personal protective equipment shall be bagged <br /> into a pair of 6 mil plastic bags and properly labeled for disposal. NOTE: If showers are <br /> not required at the spill site,the employee shall shower immediately upon arriving at <br /> his/her home. <br /> Selection Matrix <br /> The level of personal protective will be based upon planned site activities, observed <br /> hazards, and supplemental air monitoring data. When the assessment of the work <br /> environment depends on laboratory analysis of samples collected, then the selection of <br /> PPE must be made by the Health and Safety Officer using his/her professional judgment <br /> of possible or expected exposures. <br /> PPE SELECTION MATRIX <br /> 19 <br />
