1 . ..W <br /> The following equipment will be used for Level C Protection: <br /> • Hardhat <br /> • Full-face air-purifying respirators with organic vapor-acid gas/high efficiency <br /> particulate cartridges(color-coded yellow and magenta)or any specific chemical <br /> cartridges, as determined by the Health and Safety Officer <br /> • Polyethylene coated or chemical specific coveralls <br /> • Gloves: nitrile or PVC, with nitrile or surgical under gloves <br /> • Steel toed chemical resistant work boots(unless instructed otherwise). <br /> • Metatarsal guards must be worn when the hazard warrants the use of this type of <br /> protection. <br /> Level D Protection <br /> Level D Protection will be used for non-chemical work and for personnel who are sorting <br /> containers containing sealed chemicals and packaging drums. For personnel working in <br /> office areas and performing solely administrative functions, no special clothing <br /> requirements exist,although it is recommended that personnel wear practical clothing and <br /> low heeled,closed toed shoes. <br /> The minimum Level D PPE to be worn during field operations will be: <br /> • Hardhat <br /> • Safety glasses with side shields(no contacts shall be worn) <br /> • Work clothes, and/or coveralls <br /> • Leatherwork gloves when lifting or moving materials <br /> • Steel-toed work boots with metatarsal guards, if required <br /> • When packing or re-packing containers, or sorting chemicals,the following PPE will <br /> be worn: <br /> • Same as above plus: <br /> • Disposable coveralls <br /> • Nitrile gloves, with nitrile or surgical under gloves <br /> • Chemical resistant steel-toed work boots(metatarsal guards when the hazard <br /> warrants) <br /> Using PPE <br /> In order to minimize exposure potential all persons entering an exclusion zone shall put <br /> on the required personal protective equipment,according to the procedures established in <br /> this HASP. For chemical packaging operations conducted at Levels D and C, no special <br /> decontamination procedures will likely be necessary,other than the removal of protective <br /> clothing and the washing of hands and face. <br /> Donning Procedures <br /> Whenever a person plans to enter an exclusion zone,the following PPE donning <br /> sequence will be followed: <br /> iR <br />
