GENERAL RFJIIJTRFI,0TPS: The work includes demolition, disposition, <br /> �sma— ntling ac�iic excavation as specified herein and as indicated in the <br /> Facilities Engineer drawing No. 2.3.94. <br /> 2-02. TTrLF TO PROPERTY: Unless otherwise specified or indicated, excavated <br /> tanks an emo is ed/dismantled materials and equipment shall become the <br /> property of the Contractor. Preceding materials/equipment shall be <br /> hauled off the Depot by the Contractor. <br /> 2-02.1 Tank Contents: The Contractor, prior to the excavation of <br /> ta ,shall pump into containers the contents of each <br /> tank as shown on the construction drawing. The Contractor <br /> shall provide pumping equipment and the Government <br /> shall provide the containers. Pumping equipment shall be <br /> sparkless. The Contractor shall_ provide grounding conductors <br /> and ground containers before pumping. A 2" air space shall be <br /> provided between the drum rim and liquid level. Filled <br /> containers shall be delivered to Bldg. 237 by the Contractor. <br /> 2-03. PROTFCLION OF PFRSCNS AND PROPERTY: shall. be provided throughout the <br /> progressoff- worTc Iie wot s 11 proceed in such a manner as to <br /> minimize the spread of dust and flying particles and to provide safe <br /> working conditions for personnel. <br /> 2-03.1 Guard rails, fences, or other barricades and warning lights or <br /> of .r 'T <br /> amination maintain zom sunset to sunup, shall be <br /> placed at all. excavation sites. Adequate barrier physical <br /> protection shall be provided at all remotely located <br /> excavation. All wells, holes, trenches and pits shall. be <br /> covered with 1" thick plyboard if not immediately backfilled up <br /> to 12" from surrounding grade. <br /> 2-03.2 Diversion ditches dikes, or other suitable means shall he used <br /> to prevent sur ace water entering an excavation and to provide <br /> good drainage of the area adjacent to the excavation. <br /> 2-03.3 Bracing, shorin8, cribbiTlL. and other supports shall be provided <br /> where personne a� re required to enter excavation over 4 feet <br /> deep. <br /> 2-04. DEMOLITION: Bldg. 203, including concrete foundation shall be <br /> demolished completely. Explosives will not be used in the <br /> demolition process. <br /> 2-05. EXCAVATION: All excavation of every description shall be performed to <br /> the dept s indir_ated on the construction drawing. During excavation, <br /> material suitable (as determined by the Contracting, Officer) for <br /> 2-01 <br />
