3-05. DISPOSAL. OF TANKS: A] 1 tanks except concrete truck located in warehouse 28 s 1 become the property of the Contractor and shall be cut-up for scrap metal per paragraph 2-09.2. The Contractor shall certify in writing that he will not reuse the tanks for any purpose and that he will not dispose of said tanks in a manner that would permit their reuse. 3-05.1 Tank in Warehouse 28: The sand inside the tank shall be tested per Table-1 , page 3-04. Test samples must be representative of the entire depth of the tank. If test results verify contaminated sand, the sand is to be removed by the Contractor and placed in Government furnished containers. Disposal of filled containers shall be the responsibility of the Government. If test results verify no contamination, the sand shall be used as backfill. The concrete tank shall be disposed in the State approved Class } 1 landfill. The concrete tank must be transported by California State licensed Hazardous Waste Hauler. A California State Waste hauler Manifest must be used. All manifesting shall be the responsibility of the Contractor. Written verification of disposal including copies of the manifest will be signed by the Glass 1 landfill operator and shall be provided to the Contracting Officer. Disposal shall meet the requirements of the State of California, California Administrative Code, Title 23, Division 4. 3-05.2 Tank in Warehouse 247: After the tank has been excavated and emptied of its contents, the tank shall be moved 5 to 10 feet away from the excavated area and the following work shall be performed. Triple rinse tank (flush tank three times) , each time using a volume of rinse solution equal. to approximately 107 of the tank's capacity. Rinse solution shall be determined by the Contractor and shall be of sufficient composition to neutralize contents of the tank. Rinse solution is to be sprayed over the entire internal area of the tank. Rinse solution shall be pumped by the Contractor into Government furnished containers after each rinse. Disposal of filled containers is the responsibility of the Government. The tank shall be cut-up for scrap metal per paragraph 2-09.2. 3-06. PROVISION OF BAaU= MATERIAL: Tank locations tested and found to be contam,n,+t , t ntractor s ll only provide and deliver equivalent quantity of backfill material to area designated by the Contracting Officer. Backfilling shall be performed by the Government at a later date. The Contactor shall also perform work as specified in Section 2, paragraph 2-03. 3-02
