Newark Sierra Paperboard Corp.
800 West Church Street A Newark Group, Inc. Company
Stockton, CA 95203 Products from Recycled Fibers
209466-5251
Fax 2091942-1214
April 25, 1994
Greg Stahl
RESNA
Re: Underground Courtyard Pipelines
Dear Greg:
THE
NEWARK
GROUP
As you are aware, the large pipe uncovered at the base of the
sump is a fire main for our sprinkler system. This pipe is
still live. Unfortunately, we have not been able to
determine where the two abandon pipelines go that were found
a couple feet under the surface and a few feet above the
courtyard tanks. We believe that they originally carried
water from this reservoir or a predecessor to the paper
machines or process and are capped at the reservoir to the
east and at the wall to the west.
Due to the age of the facility (starting operations in 1918),
we do not have prints of all of the piping changes over the
years. Undoubtedly, there are numerous other underground
pipes in this congested corner, but we can't tell you exactly
where.
Sincerely,
Michadl J. Rogge
