Site Safety Plan for Excavation Activities April 8, 1996 <br /> Military Department OMS#24-Stockton <br /> • The following hand signals shall be used in noisy areas and/if radio communication <br /> fail: <br /> Hand gripping throat........................................Out of air, can't breath <br /> Gripping partner's wrist or putting both hands around partners wrist.....Leave Area <br /> Hands on top of head......................................Need Assistance <br /> Thumbs up......................................................OK, Pm all right , I understand <br /> Thumbs Down.................................................No, Negative <br /> • All visitors to the site must comply will the health and safety plan procedures. <br /> • Personnel and equipment in the working area should be kept too a minimum. <br /> • Procedures for leaving a work area must be planned and implemented prior to going <br /> on site in accordance with the SSP. <br /> • Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tabacco, smoking, or any practice that increase the <br /> probability of hand-to-mouth transfer and ingestion of material is prohibited in any <br /> area designated as contaminated. <br /> • Hands and face must be thoroughly washed upon leaving the work area. <br /> • Whenever decontamination procedures for outer garments are in effect, the entire <br /> body should be thoroughly washed as soon as possible after the protection garment is <br /> removed. <br /> • All trenching, shoring, and excavation work must comply with all OSHA rules. <br /> 5 <br />
