Site Safety Plan for Excavation Activities April 8, 1996 <br /> Military Department OMS#24-Stockton <br /> DECONTANIINATION <br /> Under Level D and Level C protection at these sites, the following procedures will be used <br /> for decontamination: <br /> • All decontamination procedures shall be carried out in the decontamination zone. <br /> • Decontamination equipment, materials, and supplies can consist of the following <br /> • Soft-bristled, long handled scrub brushed to physically remove contaminants from <br /> surfaces. <br /> • Water and detergents for washing surfaces <br /> • Large, galvanized wash tubs or stock tans can hold was and rinse solutions. <br /> • Large, plastic garbage cans lined with plastic bags can be used to store <br /> contaminated clothing and equipment. <br /> • Contaminated liquids or solids can be stored temporality in metal or plastic cans or <br /> drums. <br /> • All disposable clothing, decon-rinse solutions, and contaminated materials should be <br /> properly stored and left on-site for disposal. <br /> • Contaminated reusable protection equipment, such as respirators, hoses, boots, etc. <br /> shall not be removed form the decontamination zone until it has been cleaned, or <br /> properly packaged and labeled. <br /> • Legible and understandable precautionary labels shall be affixed prominently to <br /> containers of contaminated scrap, waste, debris, and clothing. <br /> • Removal of contaminated soil from PPE or equipment by blowing, shaking, or any <br /> other means which disperse contaminants into the air is prohibited. <br /> • Transportation and disposal of contaminated materials shall comply with all applicable <br /> local, state, and federal regulations. These items will be addressed by the transporter <br /> and disposer. <br /> 11 <br />
