These zones are described as follows:
• Exclusion Zone-- The exclusion zone constitutes the area where the excavation is
taking place. Within the exclusion zone, prescribed levels of PPE must be wom by all
personnel/ At a minimum, the exclusion zone extends 20 feet around the excavation
site. The exclusion zone may be expanded, however based on site conditions, such as
wind speed, etc.
• Decontamination Zone-- The decontamination zone constitutes the area where
decontamination activities take place. Within the decontamination zone, PPE is
removed and discarded or rinsed for future use. No decontamination zone is
anticipated to be required for this work.
• Support Zone -- The support Zone constitutes the remained of the site, and is
considered a non-contaminated area. The support zone contains the headquarters for
filed operations, first aid station, etc. Normal work clothes are appropriate attire for
the support zone.
