Be sure you have <br /> completed the necessary paperwork with the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department prior to applying for removal <br /> permits. Also, please note that a minimum of 43 hours is <br /> required, keeping in mind that the more advanced notice <br /> given, the more likely it is that your inspection will be <br /> scheduled on the date of your choice. <br /> I. A written safety plan is required that meets Cal-Osha <br /> requirements. <br /> 2. Post signs prohibiting any ignition sources: <br /> a) Example: "No SMOKING", "No CUTTING OR WELDING", <br /> etc. . . <br /> 3. Provide a minimum rated 20 BC or larger fire extinguisher <br /> at tank site. <br /> 4 . You must have a calibrated, explosion-proof, combustible <br /> gas meter on site. <br /> a) Lower Explosive Limit (L. E. L. ) and oxygen level must <br /> both be below 9 prior to removal, or, <br /> b) oxygen onl • 5% on the oxygen for gasoline or diesel <br /> tanks, or; <br /> C) L. E.L. onl • it on gasoline or diesel tanks. <br /> d) Extra filters and equipment to calibrate equipment <br /> must be available on site. <br /> a) Make and model numbers of instrument must be available <br /> to inspector. <br /> f) You are required to take appropriate measures to <br /> assure the L. E.L. percentage is maintained during and <br /> after excavation. <br /> 1) Monitor tanks once per hour for L. E.L. and Oxygen <br /> after removal from ground while on site. <br />
