5. All tanks and connecting lines shall be purged of the <br /> product and rinsate material. Rinsate material shall be <br /> handled as a hazardous waste: <br /> a) Requirement for dry ice use: <br /> 1) 15 lbs. per each 1,000 gallon capacity for diesel <br /> tanks. <br /> 2) 30 lbs. per each 1,000 gallon capacity for gasoline <br /> tanks. <br /> 6. Cap openings on all tanks before removing tanks from <br /> site: <br /> a) Nitrogen - tank must be capped to maintain nitrogen <br /> blanket. <br /> b) Carbon dioxide gas - tank must be capped to maintain <br /> gas blanket. <br /> c) The use of dry ice requires a vent hole for pressure <br /> relief. <br /> 1) Vent cap will have a 1/8 inch opening on top. <br /> 7. Empty underground tanks, if not properly cleaned, are <br /> considered hazardous waste. Requirements for handling <br /> are: <br /> a) Must be hauled to a certified hazardous waste site. <br /> b) Truck must be certified to haul hazardous waste. <br /> c) Must be able to present a hazardous waste manifest <br /> before leaving the site. <br /> S. Equipment to hoist tank must be rated for the calculated <br /> load: <br /> a) Equipment must not be strained. <br /> b) Tanks are not to be dragged. <br /> c) Load tank on carrier with pressure relief hole <br /> directed upward and all caps in place. <br /> NOT A <br /> THE JOB WILL BE HALTED IF ALL OF THESE ITEMS ARE NOT STRICTLY <br /> COMPLIED WITH. <br />
