The Manager will in turn, contact the Environmental Cleanup
Contractor.
The Environmental Department Manager will arrange for the waste oil to be removed
from the secondary containment and for the waste oil underground storage tank to be
removed or repaired within 30 days of the discovery of the leak. The Environmental
Department Manager is responsible for authorizing any work necessary under this plan.
As Pep Boys does not have in-house tank repair/rcmoval capabilities, all work will be
done by outside contractors. Any releases of waste oil from the secondary containment or
pipes discovered during the removal/repair will be immediately removed and sent for
treatment/disposal at an appropriate facility.
2.5 Agency Notification
Upon discovery of any release, the Environmental Department Manager must be contacted
by the Emergency Coordinator or his/her designee. Surface spills less than one g Ili on in
the service bays that are immediately cleaned up by the service technicians do not have to
be reported to Environmental Department Manager. The Emergency Coordinator will
give the following information to the Environmental Department Manager:
• His/her name and position with the Pep Boys.
• Facility name, location, store number, and phone number.
• Material/waste spilled and its quantity.
• Area affected.
• Time that spill was first observed.
• Response actions taken.
• Facility contacts.
The Environmental Department Manager will then report the incident to the appropriate
agencies listed on Table 1. The following information should be given to the agencies:
• Facility name, location, and phone number.
• Name of Emergency Coordinator
PF?_BOYS.DOC 5 5120/96
