J.`H. KLEINFELDER & ASSOCI,`t S
.;une 13 , 1956
F,- -' e No. : PW86-1030
Page 3
above the screened interval .
o A minimum of two feet of bentonite clay will be placed on
top of the sand pack to preclude the infiltration of surface
water into the well .
o The remaining annulus above the clay sea! will be 'backfilled
with a cement-bentonite slurry to grade .
o A cast iron Christy Box cover will be installed flush at
grade.
Monitoring Well Development
The wells will be developed using a combination of pumping,
surging, and air lifting techniques until the water runs clear
and is free of appreciable fines .
Monitoring Well Sampling
Each well will be purged by pumping until at least three
bore volumes have been removed from the well . Temperature, PH,
and conductivity readings will be taken periodically and
monitored for stability as an indicator of sufficient purging.
Once purging is completed, one sample will be collected from each
well . To minimize cross contamination of samples , all equipment
used to obtain samples will be thoroughly steam cleaned and
rinsed with distilled water before the sampling of each well .
Samples will be collected by bailing into appropriate
containers specified by the analytical laboratory and immediately
placed in iced containers. To ensure sample integrity, samples
will be handled under strict chain of custody procedures. All
field work described above will be performed under the direct
supervision of a Kleinfelder geologist .
Sample Analyses j
A maximum of two soil samples and one water sample from
each well will be submitted for analyses . The soil samples will
consist of the last sample obtained before intersecting the water
table and another sample to be selected on the basis of having
the highest reading from our field vapor analyzer screening.
Should none of the soil samples register on the vapor analyzer,
only the soil sample directly above the water table will be
submitted with the water sample .
For initial screening we recommend that a total hydrocarbons
analysis be run on both the water and soil samples using a
