� 15 <br />Haight Road Tank RemovalT <br />NOA Project Number: E07174A <br />January 2008 <br />• Safety boots/shoes <br />• Safety glasses (as necessary) <br />• Latex gloves (during soil handling activities) <br />Hard hat (during heavy equipment operation) <br />Ear plugs (during heavy equipment operation) <br />PPE requirements are subject to change as site information is updated or changes. If <br />site conditions warrant an upgrade to Level C or higher PPE, work will stop until the <br />HASP is updated. <br />8.0 ILLUMINATION <br />Nighttime work activities are not anticipated; however, if nighttime work becomes <br />necessary, illumination at the site will be supplemented in order to ensure safe <br />working conditions. Supplemental lighting will be provided by mobile generator <br />powered units. <br />9.0 METEORLOGICAL MONITORING <br />if necessary, onsite ambient weather conditions (temperature, wind speed and <br />direction, and relative humidity) may be monitored by the following methods; an <br />onsite met station, real-time internet weather locations, and the National Weather <br />Service (if a local station can provide data relevant to the site). <br />If required, onsite meteorological monitoring will be performed simultaneously with <br />the site activities to ensure all necessary precautions have been taken. The <br />meteorological tower, if required, will be equipped with sensors for measurement of <br />temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction. All sensors will be <br />appropriately calibrated prior to the start of work. <br />10.0 STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURES <br />10.1 Standard Safe Work Practices <br />Standard safe work practices required at the site include: <br />Eating, drinking, chewing gum or tobacco, smoking, or any other activity that <br />increases the probability of hand-to-mouth transfer and ingestion of material is <br />prohibited in any area designated as contaminated. <br />• Hands and face must be thoroughly washed upon leaving the work area. <br />Whenever decontamination procedures for outer garments are in effect, the <br />entire body should be thoroughly washed as soon as practical after leaving, the <br />contamination reduction zone. <br />• Contact with contaminated surfaces should be avoided. Whenever possible, do <br />not walk through puddles, leachate, or discolored surfaces or lean, sit, or place <br />equipment on drums, containers, or soil suspected of being contaminated. <br />
