Haight Road Tank Removal <br />NOA Project Number: E07174A <br />January 2008 <br />i 19 <br />The support zone is the outermost area and is considered an uncontaminated or clean <br />area. it contains the command post for field operations, first-aid station, sanitation <br />station, and other supplies and equipment necessary to support the exclusion zone and <br />the contamination reduction zone activities. Normal street clothes can be worn here. <br />13.2 Work Area Access <br />NOA's personnel, subcontractors, and other site visitors must agree to comply with <br />this HASP, or equivalent health and safety requirements prior to site entry. Personnel <br />failing to meet or abide by the provisions of this HASP, or equivalent health and safety <br />procedures shall be restricted from entering work areas. <br />If the Tank Removal Contractor believes that NOA's personnel are in danger or others <br />may be in danger because of activities being conducted, he/she has the authority to <br />immediately suspend work and may instruct personnel to evacuate the area. <br />Examples of situations when this may happen are: <br />• Severe weather conditions such as thunder or lightening. <br />• Extreme winds (e.g., in excess of 25 mph). <br />• Site conditions have changed, for whatever reason, such that the HA <br />5P does <br />not adequately address the current situation. <br />• Safety precautions being used are inadequate for the situation. <br />• Personnel including NOA, subcontractors, or visitors, are or may be exposed to <br />an immediate health hazard. <br />14.0 DECONTAMINATION <br />Personal Decontamination <br />Decontamination procedures, based on bevel D protection, will consist of the <br />following: <br />• Brushing heavily soiled boots. <br />• Removing gloves and depositing them in a designated container. <br />• Washing hands and face, and preferably showering as soon as practical. <br />All disposable clothing and plastic sheeting used during activities will be properly <br />disposed of in accordance with DTSC protocol. <br />Equipment Decontamination <br />All heavy equipment will be decontaminated by brushing as necessary. <br />Decontamination of sampling equipment is discussed in the PEA workplan. <br />
