04/26/1999 07:11 <br />7146705420 <br />ARCO Facility: <br />EHS ARCO LA PALMA <br />• • i 1 • RESPO <br />Address: <br />This is a monitoring and response plan of action for facilities with spill <br />containment device6 installed beneath the dispensers. <br />1. <br />CONTAINMENT Q211IPMENT <br />Dispenser spill containment devices [box(es)] are located beneath <br />each dispenser to contain any leaks from components and fittings <br />inside the dispenser cabinet. A mechanical sensor is located in the <br />box. When the sensor detects the presence of a liquid, it will activate <br />the impact valve and shut the dispenser down. <br />2. MAINTENSNCE SCHEDULE <br />The containment devices will be inspected according to the <br />manufacturer's instructions by an outside contractor once during each <br />calendar year. <br />X61"A MUM ► •' --• • - <br />On a weekly basis the facility operator shall: <br />A. Inspect each. containment box for the presence of a liquid. <br />B. Remove debris from the containment box. <br />If any liquid is found, manually close the Impact valve, place the <br />dispenser "out of service", and call ARCO Maintenance immediately. <br />4. RE$PQNSE PRQCEDURE - CONTAINMENT BOXES f <br />OPERATOR RESPONSIBILITIES <br />In the event the impact valve is activated and shuts down a <br />dispenser, station personnel immediately: <br />PAGE 13 <br />
