`
R. Jeff Granberry / Jeff Byram
Page 2
If no hearing is requested within the public comment period, you
will be notified that the Corrective Action Plan will be allowed
to proceed. I anticipate a public comment period of 10 to 14
days, but I will let you know once I determine the potential
impact your plan may have.
Please submit three original documents of the Corrective Action
Plan along with three originals of an Executive Summary. This
summary is a non-technical, single page document intended to be
reviewed by the general public so that they may get a quick
overview of what has happened on the site since its beginning,
its current status, what you are proposing, and the final status
of the site. It has been my experience that a clearly and
concisely written Executive Summary has eliminated the public's
concern and any need for a hearing.
Any member of the public that requires a more detailed
description of the proposed Corrective Action will be directed to
the public library or PHS-EHD so that they may review one of the
three original Corrective Action Plans you have submitted.
I realize this may be somewhat overwhelming now, but without this
process no removal of impacted soil can occur during the tank
removal. This procedure will allow you the opportunity to
quickly remediate any secondary source of contamination found at
the tank removal. But it should be noted that over -excavation is
not required and by leaving petroleum impacted soils in place may
require further remediation/investigation later as directed by
PHS-EHD.
You may contact Michael Infurna at (209) 468-3454 should you have
any questions or to make an appointment to witness your field
activities.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
EnvirongLeptal Division
Michael Infurna, Senior REHS
Site Mitigation Unit
Diane M.
