Box 2009
1601 East Hazelton Avenue
Stockton, CA 95201
FINAL APPLICATION FOR UNDERGROUND TANK CLOSURE PERMIT
KJAX RADIO TRANSMITTER SITE
HARDING WAY, STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA
Dear Ms. Briggs:
Woodward-Clyde Federal Services (WCFS) has been retained by the Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA) on behalf of the Federal Communications Commission(FCC)
to evaluate underground fuel storage tanks which support FEMA-owned emergency broadcast
equipment at various radio stations throughout the United States. The out-of-service 1,000
gallon underground storage tank at the KJAX radio transmitter in Stockton is a part of this
national program.
Based on correspondence with San Joaquin County Public Health Services(SJCPHS),FEMA
has asked WCFS to oversee the removal of the diesel tank at the KJAX transmitter site.
Activities related to the removal of this tank will be conducted under the direction of the
WCFS office in Sacramento.
In April 1993, WCFS responded to SJCPHS's request to submit an Application for
Underground Storage Tank Closure Permit (application). At that time a contractor for the
removal had not been selected and the application that was submitted was not complete.
WCFS has recently selected a removal contractor and has prepared the final application.
Listed below are the documents WCFS is submitting as part of the final application.
Detailed Site Map (USA Dig will be contacted prior to excavation activities)
• Application for Underground Tank Closure Permit
• Authorization to Release Analytical Data
• Underground Storage Tank Disposition Tracking Record
c-WAXWCPHS.LTR 10/05/93
10370 Old Placerville Rd.,Suite 104•Sacramento,CA 95827-2505
916-368-0988•Fax 916-368-0967
