Subsurface Environmental Investigation September 28, 1988 <br />ARCO Service Station No. 4932, Stockton, California AGS 38051-1 <br />interpretation of these results and recommendations for future <br />work. <br />BACKGROUND <br />The former underground storage tank was located south of the <br />station building. Information provided by personnel of ARCO <br />indicated that the 550 -gallon tank was used to store waste oil. <br />The approximate location of the tank cavity is shown on the <br />Generalized Site Plan (Plate P-2). Tom Mehringer Construction of <br />Red Bluff, California, removed the tank and was responsible for <br />permit acquisition and notification of the appropriate <br />authorities. Ms. Kasey Foley of the San Joaquin Local Health <br />District was present during removal and inspection of the tank <br />and soil sampling. <br />FIELD INVESTIGATION <br />A geologist from Applied GeoSystems was present at the site on <br />September 1, 1988, to collect one soil sample from beneath the <br />base of the waste -oil tank. The tank was removed and soil was <br />excavated from the tank cavity with a backhoe. <br />2 <br />Applied GeoSystems <br />
