Subsurface Environmental Investigation September 28, 1988
ARCO Service Station No. 4932, Stockton, California AGS 38051-1
One soil sample was collected from an approximate depth of 9 feet
in the excavation, or 2 feet below the base of and adjacent to
the fill port end of the former tank. No evidence of soil
contamination was noted in the sample or in the walls of the
excavation. The native soil excavated consisted of silty sand.
The sample was collected from the base of the tank cavity by
excavating below the former tank with the backhoe. A hand -
operated percussion sampler was used to drive a clean brass
sample sleeve into the soil immediately after it was brought to
the surface. The sleeve was removed from the sampler and sealed
with aluminum foil, a plastic cap, and airtight tape. The sample
(designated S-9-WOT) was then labeled and placed into iced
storage.
The location of the sample within the tank cavity is shown on the
Generalized Site Plan. A Chain of Custody Record was initiated
by the geologist in the field and accompanied the sample to the
analytical laboratory. A copy of this record is included in the
Appendix to this report.
3
Applied GeoSystems
